KUALA LUMPUR: The vacancies in PKR's senior management will be announced after party chairman Anwar Ibrahim has consulted with the respective heads of state.
PKR General Secretary Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the party's constitution allows the president to appoint five members of the central executive board, two vice-presidents, a secretary general, an information chief, a treasurer and 14 presidents of state.
"I spoke to Anwar before he left for Turkey. He said he needed time to decide, "Saifuddin told the lobby of Parliament today.
"He started with Penang and will continue with other states.
"All this will take time because it must take everything into account to ensure the stability of the party in the long term."
In the Rantau by-election, Saifuddin said the party had not yet determined whether Dr. Streram Sinnasamy would be PKR's candidate.
He added that the political bureau of PKR was supposed to meet today, but that this meeting must be canceled because most senior party leaders are not available.
"Datuk Seri Anwar is in Turkey. Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail from Datuk is in Qatar. Our main leaders are not in the country, so we did not hold the meeting. "
On November 21, it was reported that Negeri Sembilan PKR had proposed three names, including Streram's, as PKR's candidate in the by-election.
Streram was prevented from submitting nomination papers for the 14th general election on May 9th. This led Barisan Nasional's candidate, the former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Mohamad Hasan, to win the seat unchallenged.
On May 23, Streram filed a petition to quash the decision of the Electoral Commission declaring Mohamad as the winner of the Rantau state seat.
On November 16, the Electoral Court granted Streram's request for a new election for the seat of Rantau State.
