Borussia Dortmund midfielder Shinji Kagawa plans to move to Spain in January 's transfer window.
Japanese international Kagawa, 29, struggled to save time this season by playing only four games. Bundesliga leaders Dortmund said they would not block a move.
"I do not want to finish my career without playing in Spain," said the former Manchester United star at the Japanese newspaper Nikkan Sportsy. That's what I want to do. "
Kagawa, who has already learned Spanish, added that he was not satisfied with his reduced role in Dortmund.
"I want to find a solution to the situation. One is to change clubs," he said.
Kagawa passed the line order in Dortmund after the arrival of Lucien Favre and was held aloof by Marco Reus.
"Shinji has a treasure of merit for Borussia Dortmund," said Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc at Reviersport.
"It is clear that his situation is currently very unsatisfactory for him.We will sit after the first half of the season and we will have a faithful conversation."
Kagawa has won two Bundesliga titles and two German cups in Dortmund during two club visits since 2010.
