Cayman Airways, the Cayman Islands airline, has received its first Boeing 737 MAX 8, registered as VP-CIW. The airline becomes the first operator of the 737 MAX 8 in the Caribbean.

Until 2020, the airline will take delivery of three additional Boeing 737 MAX 8s to replace its fleet of 737 Classics. Compared to the 737-300, the MAX 8 offers a 30% higher seating capacity and an energy efficiency improvement of over 30% per seat.

Cayman Airways is able to achieve the highest levels of efficiency with the 737 MAX 8, as well as unparalleled levels of reliability and comfort. In addition, the incredible range of MAX opens up the potential of several new markets within the Americas.Fabian Whorms, President and CEO of Cayman Airways

Beginning in March 2019, Cayman Airways will operate non-stop seasonal flights to Denver twice a week. The new route will be operated by the all-new 737 MAX aircraft. Cayman Airways already serves other American cities, such as Miami, Tampa or New York.

Two Saab 340 and DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft are also part of the Cayman Airways fleet for flights between Grand Cayman and the sister islands of Little Cayman and Cayman Brac.
