Charles Leclerc admits it was "an emotionally charged day" in the Abu Dhabi Ferrari, knowing that it will be his team's turn for 2019.
Leclerc exchanged his Sauber combination for the Ferrari red kit on Tuesday and closely watched the rank of his new teammate Sebastian Vettel to be the fastest of the first day.
On Wednesday, the Frenchman beat Vettel's time by four tenths.
He made 135 laps on the second day with a time of 1: 36.450 with Pirelli's "Compound 5" tire, the hypersoft 2019.
It was not the first time that Leclerc was driving the SF71H, but the 21-year-old said it was really the most special test he did with the Scuderia.
"Of course, because this is the first time I get in the car knowing what is waiting for me next year," he told Crash.net.
"It's obviously extremely special.
"It's also very special now that everyone knows it and the whole team knows it too.
"Everything is different, but I am extremely happy.
"It was a pretty emotional day."
Although happy to have finished P1 that day, Leclerc admits Wednesday's race was more about understanding Pirelli 2019's performance than setting the pace.
"I always want to do well, no matter who I drive.
"But today, the main goal was to understand the tires, rather than demonstrate my performance.
"We focused on that and I'm happy."
