A Chinese researcher said he helped create the world's first genetically modified baby.

He Jiankui, who calls himself "JK", studied at the American Rice and Stanford Universities before returning to his homeland to open a laboratory at China's Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen, where he also has two genetics societies.
The university said his work "seriously violates ethics and academic standards" and planned to investigate.
