A former Facebook employee, who worked closely with racial minority groups, said Tuesday in a post on his blog that he had left this month frustrated by "the denial of the right to vote votes systematically." -represented "and other issues related to diversity.
"Blacks are one of the most engaged demographics on Facebook, but their experiences are sometimes far from positive," wrote Mark Luckie, former head of Strategic Partners for Facebook at Global Influencers.
In an e-mail response to Reuters, a spokesman for Facebook, said the company was working to increase the diversity of its employees.
"We want to fully support all employees when problems are reported and micro-behaviors can add up. We will continue to do everything in our power to become a truly inclusive enterprise, "said the spokesman.
In a detailed Facebook publication, Luckie said he saw Facebook moderators remove potentially offensive publications from black users, while the same white people posts were left out despite user complaints.
He also claimed to have been discriminated against in the office, his colleagues sometimes holding his wallet past him, a reactionary behavior that he attributed to the color of his skin.
Racial discrimination in the company "is real," said Luckie.
He added that black employees who turn to the company's human resources to make resolutions are convinced that such "discouraging models are the product of our imagination".
Facebook's actions have had a turbulent year, under pressure from revelations of operational and privacy issues, as well as slowing revenue growth.
