The beta application of Go-Jek will be available on Android and Apple devices to a limited number of consumers, the company said in a statement released Thursday. The startup has asked users to comment in the beginning to improve the quality of service.
"We are launching the beta now as we improve our service," said Go-Jek President Andre Soelistyo in a statement before an information session in the city.
Many consumers and drivers are eagerly awaiting the entry of Go-Jek after Grab strengthened its grip on the city by agreeing in March to acquire Uber Technologies Inc., a Southeast Asian company, eliminating its main competitor in the region. The departure of Uber was followed by an increase in the number of user complaints about rising prices, delays and customer service failures. Drivers expressed frustration with the reduction in earnings.
"For Singapore, another competitor can not come fast enough," said Benjamin Roberts, a resident of Singapore dissatisfied with Grab's cancellations and surcharges. – Bloomberg
