SHAH ALAM: The dispute over the land on which Seafield Sri Maha Mariaman Temple is located may soon find a solution.

According to sources, the state government of Selangor will acquire the land and allow the temple to remain in place.

It is not yet clear whether ownership of the land will be given to the temple management or a long-term lease.

Selangor Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari announced in a statement that he would announce this decision at a press conference on Thursday, November 29 afternoon.

He also said that he had met with the Minister of the Prime Minister, P. Waytha Moorthy, the Deputy Minister of Rural Development, Sivarasa Rasiah, the Deputy for Sentosa, Gunaraj George, and the Deputy for Kota Kemuning, V. Ganabatirau , to discuss the question.

Sources said that the instruction to secure the temple grounds came directly from Prime Minister Tun, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, after Waytha Moorthy and the Minister of Human Resources, Mr. Kulasegaran, met him after his visit to the temple on Tuesday, November 27th.

One source said that there are several options, including one in which the federal government will pay the developer for the land and transfer the property to the Selangor government.

"The immediate concern of the federal and state governments is to secure the temple land to solve the problem," he said.
