IGP: Cops will not tolerate illegal acts during relocation of the temple

IPOH: Police warned today that it would no longer tolerate illegal acts to provide security near a Hindu temple in Selangor, where fights over the past two days have caused bodily injury and damage materials.

Police Inspector General Mohamad Fuzi Harun said that he had ordered the Selangor police chief, Mazlan Mansor, to act after the clashes in the Sri Maha Mariamman temple of the 39th. USJ 25, Putra Heights, near Subang Jaya.

He added that the police had stationed staff of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) and the General Operations Force (GOF) near the temple yesterday, but that these groups had committed acts illicit in areas where the police were not present earlier today.

As a result of the incident, the police arrested 21 people to facilitate investigations.

Early this morning, as a result of further violence, several roadside vehicles were set on fire. A fire and rescue vehicle was also damaged during today's incident and a firefighter was injured.

Fuzi advised all neighborhoods, including politicians, to obtain accurate information before making statements about the incident.

He stressed that everyone should refrain from launching charges against the police without obtaining valid information.

"All neighborhoods should remain silent so as not to aggravate the situation. This includes politicians. They should help alleviate the situation and not accuse the police of not being on the scene. It's very irresponsible.

"It's the same for those who are not associated with the incident. I hope everyone will understand our ongoing efforts to control the situation. These kinds of things will complicate the investigation process, "he said.

Fuzi said the police would continue to investigate before making further statements.
