Despite his 16th season, LeBron James at worst remains in the conversation to find out who is the best player in the NBA. This is of course a significant and positive step forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, who signed it for a four-year free agency contract.
James' longevity is a byproduct of good fortune – he has avoided serious injuries throughout his career – and demonstrates his work ethic and dedication off the field. Former teammates, head coaches, and front desk staff all pointed out that James' attention to detail was critical to maintaining his body.
The Lakers head coach, Luke Walton, who was selected the same year as James, is now looking closely at the process itself. While James takes care of his physical care with meticulous detail, Walton said he would do his part to monitor the veteran's minutes.
James and Walton both insisted on staying in the present, but the first one is allowed to look down upon an appearance in The Tim Ferriss Show.
While detailing some of the tasks done with his personal trainer Mike Mancias, James reiterated his desire to play an NBA game with his eldest son, Bronny:
"I'd like to see the floor with my son. My son is in eighth grade now. If he continues on the path that he is right now, he could possibly be in the NBA in five or six years. It would be an incredible moment for not only me but my family. For everyone. So we will see. Obviously, taking care of the body is the # 1, and we will continue to do it. But more importantly, take care of the spirit. If your mind is not fresh, your body will fall by the wayside. So, by the grace of the man above and by all that Mike, my support team and I do, it would be really great if I could be on NBA floor with my eldest son. "
LeBron James Jr. reaching the NBA is not acquired in advance, but he has already shown a lot of talent and promise for a player of his age. When he could get into the rough draft, he is somewhat indecisive as the NBA progresses towards the end of the draft rule.
James staying in the league for five or six other seasons would involve playing at age 40. He must be 34 in December. If James did such a job and LeBron James Jr. reached the NBA, they would join the Griffey family and the Bonds family as father-son duos.
