KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said that former Goldman Sachs leader Roger Ng would be extradited to the United States if the country asked for it.
He added that there would be lawsuits against Ng in the United States, the alleged offense being committed there.
"If the US requests his extradition, we will send him to the country," he said after chairing the PPBM Supreme Council meeting at Menara Yayasan Selangor here yesterday.
Ng was reportedly arrested in Malaysia when his former colleague Tim Leissner pleaded guilty in New York to financial transactions related to 1MDB.
Meanwhile, when he was asked at auction the luxury yacht Equanimity owned by businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, who was finished yesterday, Mahathir said that he had not received any information about it.
"I want to buy but I do not have enough money," he joked.
On October 19, the High Court declared the luxury yacht owned by the Malaysian Government and 1MDB after the registered owner did not claim it. The court also ruled that the government could dispose of the yacht.
