"The government has decided not to ratify ICERD, so all parties must respect the decision," he said at a press conference in his ministry here today.

The Prime Minister's Office in a statement issued on November 23, declaring that the PH government would not ratify ICERD and would continue to enforce the Federal Constitution, in which the social contract had been agreed by representatives of all races in the formation of the country. .

Subsequently, Gerakan Pembela Ummah's head of office, Aminuddin Yahaya, was quoted as saying that the December 8 rally was to continue at Dataran Merdeka, but as a celebration rally.

PAS Vice President Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man is reported to have said that the rally will continue, although the SAP welcomes the government's decision not to recognize the treaty.

Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was quoted as saying that Umno would join the demonstration in thanking him for the government's decision.

Muhyiddin said that if the initial goal of the assembly was to protest against ICERD's ratification and it was now a thank-you rally, it would be best to hold it in a mosque.

Muhyiddin said that the Ministry of the Interior (KDN) would approve the permit application if the organizers complied with the regulations in force.
