Police deny terrorists burned Perlis mufti's car

The alleged attack on Perlis Mufti Mohd Asri Zainoul Abidin's car vehicle was not a terrorist act, police said.

Perlis police chief, Noor Mushar Mohd, called for calm and urged everyone to avoid making reckless statements that could cause "public anxiety".

"It is not correct for us to say that this incident involved terrorist groups, and the (alleged) motive of the incident up to now is a tendency to revenge or to an element staff.

"I urge everyone not to make too bold statements that could jeopardize our investigation," Noor Mushar was quoted by the news agency as saying. Berita Harian.

Asri's car was burnt in an incident early yesterday morning.

The police suspected at the time that it was a bomb attack.

Asri, however, initially quoted the fire and rescue service as stating that there was no sabotage and that the fire had started in the interior.

He changed his music after watching the videos of CCTV.

"After watching the CCTV (images), I drew the conclusion that it was about the work of the terrorists that can put lives at risk, "he said in a Facebook post today.
