Realme presents a 25-megapixel smartphone selfie powered by MediaTek

Realme U1

Oppo's core brand, Realme, has announced a new affordable and powerful smartphone. It has a high resolution 25 megapixel front camera and is also the first smartphone in the world to run on the new MediaTek P70 processor.

The device looks identical to its current Realme 2 Pro and even retains a similar 6.3 "Full HD + IPS screen, featuring a teardrop shaped notch. Under the hood, the U1 is powered by a 12nm MediaTek P70 processor consisting of Cortex-A73 high-performance 4x cores and Cortex-A53 high-performance 4x cores.

The device comes with 3GB of RAM + 32GB of storage or 4GB of RAM + 64GB of storage. As usual, you can expand storage with its dedicated microSD slot.

In terms of imagery, the Realme U1 has the highest resolution selfie camera in the family with a 25MP f / 2.0 shooter using the Sony IMX576 sensor. For clarity, the selfie camera supports 4-in-1 sorting, giving you a pixel size greater than 1.8 micron. In addition to this, it also features AI beautification features with a hybrid HDR for the front camera.

The back of the Realme U1 comes with a dual 13MP f / 2.2 + 2MP f / 2.4 camera configuration that offers portrait mode with portrait lighting. Like the Realme 2 Pro, the U1 also comes with a 3500 mAh battery that charges via microUSB. By default, it works with ColorOS 5.2 which is superimposed on Android 8.1 Oreo.

In India, the Realme U1 with 3GB of RAM + 32GB of storage is priced at 11,999 INR (approximately RM719), while the most sophisticated storage version of 4GB RAM + 64GB uses 14,499 INR (approximately RM868).

In addition to the phone, Realme also announced a special case with a clear back logo. In India, the Realme U1 Iconic case amounts to 499INR (approximately 29.90 RMB).

In addition to that, they also introduced the Realme Buds headphones which also costs 499INR (about 29.90 RMB). It's a pair of wired in-ear headphones that promises to deliver stronger bass. The cable uses kevlar fiber for greater durability. The ear cups can be connected to each other via magnets. You also have a three-button controller with a microphone to manage your multimedia playback.

The Realme U1 will go on sale in India from December 5, 2018. At the moment, there are no details on the availability and prices of the device on the Malaysian market.
