Renowned lawyer denies playing role in temple clashes

TOP's attorney, Haniff Khatri Abdulla, denied reports that he was one of two lawyers behind Monday's attack on a Hindu temple before dawn, adding that he would prosecute those who spread slander.

In a statement released this morning, Haniff said Rafish lawyer Rashid Ali was hired by One City Development Berhad, the company owning the land where Sri Maha Mariamman Temple is located in Seafield, about 12 hours after # 39; attack.
