PETALING JAYA: Activist-lawyer Siti Kasim today blamed Federal Minister Khalid Samad on the announcement that entertainment venues in the city would be required to respect the closing time of 1:00 am morning in their license starting next year.
In a publication on Facebook, she said that people were not children who could be told where they could and could not go after 1am.

Yesterday, Khalid said that there were many places of entertainment in the city that were supposed to close at 1 am but remained open until 5 am.
He added that Kuala Lumpur City Hall would also be reviewing opening hours of outlets that had received special permission to open until 5 am in order to meet the needs of the local authorities. tourists, but who had abused this privilege by allowing the inhabitants to settle down.
He said this should be considered as a reminder for people to spend more time and money with their families.
However, Siti Kasim accused Khalid of making it "a battle of superiority rather than an attempt to walk with us."
"It's not the laws that restrict our freedom, it's your beliefs that see them as chains," she added.
According to the Malaysian Association of Travel and Travel Agencies (Matta), there were 12.29 million tourist arrivals in Kuala Lumpur last year.
Matta warned that the early closing time would have a negative impact on tourism and a domino effect on other businesses.
