TAP Air Portugal, launch customer of the Airbus A330neo, received the first commercial Airbus A330-900neo. In the coming years, the Portuguese carrier will receive 20 additional A330neos.

The all-new aircraft, registered as CS-TUB, was handed over to the airline earlier this week and is scheduled to enter service between Lisbon and Sao Paolo in December. On Wednesday, he flew from Toulouse to Lisbon Airport for his delivery flight.

The A330neo will give us great operational flexibility thanks to its similarities with other Airbus aircraft in our fleet. This aircraft will be the first to be equipped with the new Airspace cabin, a new concept designed to meet TAP's ambition to offer the best product in the industry to our passengers. Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of TAP Air Portugal

The Airbus A330-900neo is equipped with the new generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, based on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner's Trent 1000. In addition, it includes new A350 style Sharklets, optimized for better aerodynamic performance. According to Airbus, this progress has significantly reduced fuel consumption by 25% compared to competing aircraft of the same size and generation.
