The new chairman of the Kerjasama Bank Rakyat Malaysia Bhd (Rakyat Bank) has been identified and an announcement on it will be made soon, said Minister of Development, Mohd Redzuan Yusof.
According to Redzuan, the candidate is not a politician and has long been involved in the international banking sector.
He added that the ministry was waiting for an assessment of the candidate by Bank Negara Malaysia.
"There is already a candidate, although the power of appointment comes back to the department, we take a professional approach.
"We have to follow the procedure of the Negara Bank, we do not want to" skip the gun "," he said at a press conference at the Parliament building yesterday.
Commenting further, he said that the resignation of Shukry Salleh as chairman of the board of directors on Monday should not affect the image and the new agenda of the ministry.
Shukry's service came to an immediate end following a revelation by the Auditor General, Madinah Mohamad, on November 25, about Shukry's alleged involvement in the amendment of the final 1MDB audit report.
