The new party of the Sabah National Organization (Usno Baru) elected its members yesterday, ending a five-year hiatus resulting from internal quarrels.
The new party, which was registered in 2013, held its annual general meeting (AGM) yesterday, during which the majority of the members of its original temporary committee, who attended the meeting, elected Ibrahim Linggam to the presidency.
According to Free Malaysia Today (FMT), Ibrahim secured the support of eight of the ten committee members present to overthrow the party's interim president, Dulli Tiaseh.
Usno Baru held the AGM yesterday after being instructed by the Clerk of the Society to hold the meeting within one month of November 7th. The meeting lasted two hours.
"We are happy that everything is over. Now this is a new start for us and we will soon start recruiting members, "said Ibrahim, quoted by the FMT.
The former Usno was founded in 1967 by Datu Mustapha Harun before being canceled by the RoS in 1996.
