PETALING JAYA: The fuel price of 97 RON will increase by 12 sen per liter, while the price of petrol and diesel at 95 RON will remain unchanged for the week beginning Saturday 20 April.
The Ministry of Finance announced that the price of RON97 would rise from RMB 2.68 per liter to RMB 2.80 per liter.
Prices for petrol and diesel at 95 RON remain unchanged at 2.08 RMB per liter and 2.18 RMB per liter, respectively.
The Department of Finance announced that the new RON97 gasoline prices would take effect from Saturday, April 01 at 00:01 to 26 April.
The Department noted that under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula, RON95 and diesel were to be increased by 12 sen per liter and seven sen per liter, respectively.
"However, the prices of RON95 and diesel for this period are capped at RMB 2.18 and RMB 2.18 per liter, respectively, as a result of a Cabinet decision to reduce the financial burden of the population ", the government said in a statement Friday, April 19.
The weekly fuel pricing mechanism was reintroduced on Jan. 5 as part of the MPA.
In this system, weekly fuel prices are announced every Friday and remain in effect for one week.
