So, to fully test the capabilities of the phone and what it offers, I confront it with some Malaysian scenarios to see how it behaves. Here is my week-long experience with the new OnePlus 6T.

1. Watch movies on the phone because we Malaysians love Netflix and chill on the go

Whether we were going home after work or just sitting at home mamakWe Malaysians obviously love Netflix and the cold wherever we are. If you own a small phone like me, you will be seduced by the big screen OnePlus 6T.

Here's what I liked:

  • Watching movies on a larger screen, the screen of my current phone measuring only 3.5 inches. #sad life
  • Watch all my shows and movies on the phone in high definition when and where I wanted because of the 6.24-inch AMOLED display
  • The screen / body ratio of OnePlus 6T and its minimalist drip notch and thin lower bezel which is 1.5 mm thinner than the previous OnePlus 6.

functionality: AMOLED screen of 6.24 inches.

bonus: You can even hide the notch in the settings!

Let's face it, an important feature that we all look for in a phone is a great camera. If not, how can we improve our Instagram Wei game?

Just like many Malaysians, the camera of a phone alone can make a purchase decision. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised by the photos I took of the OnePlus 6T. I was so amused that even my colleagues were jealous and took the phone for a ride!

Here's what I liked:

  • The night mode function that allowed me to capture night shots with a minimum of noise. It is also divided into two modes (handheld and tripod)
  • The phone was also smart enough to detect dark scenes by automatically switching to night mode when I was in low light conditions.
  • Its dual 16 megapixel and 20 megapixel lens, configured with OIS and EIS, is integrated with the main shooter.
  • The 16 megapixel selfie camera that produced good selfies by blurring the background.

functionality: Selfie camera, dual rear camera and night mode.

3. When you want to unlock your phone but your hands are dirty because of everything you have eaten

Another common struggle we face as Malaysians is trying to unlock our phones when our hands are dirty with sambal, curry and all the other delicious Malaysian dishes we eat. Do not worry, we've all been there.

Fortunately for us, some phones allow us to unlock our phones with just our face!

Here's what I liked:

  • The fingerprint screen on the screen was unlocked because it allowed to unlock the phone very easily when he was lying on the table. Not to mention the fact that it was also very fast as it only took about 0.34 seconds to unlock it!
  • The OnePlus 6T's face-unlocking feature is the fastest I've seen to date.

Seriously, it took me barely a second to unlock the phone. Usain Bolt also loses wei!

functionality: Face-ID and Finger Print-on screen.

4. Having to lug a power bank because our phone always dies before the end of the day!

Seriously, this must be one of the most frustrating things that happen, especially when we are waiting for an important phone call. As a result, many Malaysians are using a food bank to prevent our phones from dying on us.

Fortunately, it was not a problem during my week with the OnePlus 6T.

Here's what I liked:

  • It's beefy 3,700mAh battery which has earned me an average use of a full day – I only had to reload it once I got home.
  • It's super fast dash charge, who charged my phone to only about 50% within 30 minutes!

Believe me, you will not need to lug an extra battery with this device as a daily driver.

functionality: 3.700mAh battery and Dash charging.

5. Play games on the phone for hours only to delay him during the match

There is a famous saying among the players: "Video games do not make us violent, delay does it". If you can understand how frustrating it is to have a trolling phone when you play, you'll certainly appreciate the technical features of the OnePlus 6T.

Here's what I liked:

  • I was able to play games such as mobile PUBG without offset thanks to the ultra-fast 845 Snapdragon technology and 8 GB of integrated RAM.
  • In addition to playing games, I was also able to perform several tasks at the same time without encountering any technical problems (open several applications at the same time).

As the saying goes, all good things must stop, as well as the time I spent with this lighthouse killer. Mi Han, can I sponsor one, pretty please? #shameless

Aside from the OnePlus 6T, I could even listen to my favorite songs with the OnePlus Bullet Wireless Earphones which is praised for its outstanding audio experience. The headphones are sold separately from the device.

Here's what I liked about it:

  • The sound quality was excellent and I had an experience of "percussive bass".
  • It suited my ears perfectly and I felt no discomfort during long periods of use.
  • I did not have a problem connecting to different devices.
  • It is also very easy to charge with the USB-C charge which gave me 5 hours of playback with only 10 minutes of charge.

All things considered, I absolutely loved the OnePlus 6T and I can honestly say that it resisted well in all the situations against which I oppose it.

If you are interested, you can buy your device with the official accessories in the official OnePlus shop on Lazada and Shopee.

In addition, the phone even offers an attractive price from RM2,588 for the 128GB variant!

Here are the prices of all variants of the OnePlus 6T:

  • 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM – Mirror Black (RM2,588)
  • 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM – Black Mirror / Midnight Black & Purple Thunder [coming soon] (RM2,888)
  • 8 GB RAM + 256 GB ROM – Midnight Black (RM3 188)

The device I received was the Midnight Black variant, which repelled fingerprints well and had a nice frosted finish.
