KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The financial problem is the leading cause of divorce among non-Muslims in the country, said Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Hannah Yeoh.
On the basis of statistics on non-Muslim couples, she said that out of 6,901 divorce cases registered by non-Muslim couples last year, 2,971 were related to financial problems.
"The financial problem is huge, according to statistics from the marriage court of the National Department of Registration. The majority of divorce cases were due to financial problems," she said.
She said this after visiting the Women of Will Community Cooking Program (WOW) in Batu Muda PPR on Saturday (May 25).
Yeoh said that it was even more worrying that the number of divorces also contributed to the rise in the number of child abuse cases involving mothers.
"Financial problems, divorce cases and child abuse are interdependent." When the divorce is financial, the mother loses a source of income and pressure that could lead to abuse, "she said. declared. – Bernama
