Leak! Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 rumored to make around 800 HP

Aside from a teaser, Ford has remained relatively silent on the upcoming Shelby GT500 Mustang since its official announcement at the Detroit Auto Show. We knew that he would have more than 700 horses, and that was just about everything. But leaks from a dealership event this week may have given us a lot more information.

The first leak comes from Instagram, where the user sinister_lifestyle posted on a stage, which seems to be a picture of the new GT500, in front of a big Shelby Cobra graphic – and the best of all, it's completely discovered. Ford had previously released an aerial photo of the GT500, but this new image gives us a better overview of the Mustang, the very first generation. The blackened bumper gives the front an appearance almost similar to that of a GT-R. Its larger power take-offs and large wing differentiate the GT500 from the less powerful GT350. Then there are the wheels, which look like the available carbon fiber units of the GT350 but may be even bigger. The optional carbon rollers of the GT350 measure 19 x 11 inches at the front and 19 x 11.5 at the back.

Later, on the Mustang6G fan forum, user Tomster released some additional details that they claimed to have obtained from a dealer participating in the event. It is assumed that dealers were informed that the GT500 would get a six-speed manual transmission or an optional 10-speed automatic transmission, but not the long-rumored dual clutch. Oh, and the supercharged V8 would also produce between 780 and 790 hp. If that's true, the GT500 would become almost as powerful as the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye.

At this point, it is difficult to say precisely the accuracy of these details, especially since an alleged leak would have shown that the GT500 produced only 720 hp. We do not know what to believe, but we do not pretend that the idea of a Mustang of nearly 800 horses is not attractive. It seems really funny.
