The money screen kings made for the Festival of Speed
With the variety of iconic machines converging on the lane of Lord March this year, there is no surprise that we will see the cream of the crop when it comes to rare cars at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. For the first time, a special visitor crosses the pond to join the prestigious gathering; A Mustang Fastback Highland Green 1968.
It's true, the same Mustang that Steve McQueen muscled in the streets of San Francisco to Bullitt will make his presence at this year's Festival of Speed. With its recent discovery coinciding with the debut of the new Bullitt Mustang 2019, this piece of sought-after history will now have a chance to stretch on the 2.5-kilometer alley along the new Bullitt Mustang.
The original Bullitt Mustang (Series # 559 chassis) surfaced after more than 30 years of public disappearance when Sean Kiernan revealed the vehicle hidden by his parents in the family garage. The vehicle would have been purchased for $ 6,000 in 1974 by Sean's father, Robert Kiernan, who gave the Mustang to his wife for everyday use. With the Mustang revealed at the Detroit Motor Show alongside the new Bullitt Mustang, the original Bullitt Mustang has since registered for the Historic Cars Register and has been touring the United States ever since.
