The new Audi Q3, based on the Volkswagen Group's modular transverse matrix, has been developed in virtually every dimension and is positioned in the segment of superior compact SUVs. It is 4,485 millimeters (14.7 feet) long, 97 millimeters (3.8 inches) longer than its predecessor. In terms of width, it has increased from 25 millimeters (1.0 in) to 1.856 millimeters (6.1 ft), but at 1.585 millimeters (5.2 ft) is 5 millimeters (0.2 in) flatter than the first generation Q3. Its wheelbase, which has been lengthened from 77 millimeters (2 inches) to 2680 millimeters (8.8 feet), is much more spacious – the height of the knees, the free height and the height of the elbows are even greater.

Inside the cabin, the new Audi Q3 receives the dashboard which is divided into two levels: the upper part includes the vents; the lower section incorporates the large octagonal zone with its black panel appearance. The dashboard varies the pattern of the Singleframe and is surrounded by a broad band of chrome. The shiny black trim surrounds the central element of the new control concept: the MMI touch screen. With the climate controls below, it is tilted 10 degrees to the driver. The pushbutton module for lighting functions, which replaces the rotary knob on the previous model, is inserted into the panel to the left of the steering wheel. Other benefits include dual-zone air conditioning, auxiliary heating, heated steering wheel and panoramic glass sunroof.
The new Audi Q3 will be manufactured at the Győr plant in Hungary and will be available in four versions: three petrol and a diesel unit in combination with front wheel drive or quattro. Their power ranges from 110 kW (150 hp) to 169 kW (230 hp). All engines are four-cylinder direct injection units with turbocharger. A six-speed manual transmission or a high-speed seven-speed S tronic transmission is used to transmit power.
