Silverstone, Northamptonshire – Honda's Type R Challenge continued its undefeated progression through Europe by setting a new lap record for a standard front-wheel drive car on the first British circuit.
Three times British British Touring Car Championship The winner Matt Neal, who is currently racing a Civic Type R in 2018, has completed the fast track 5.89 km in 2m31.32s, beating the reference of the Civic Type R of the previous generation 2016.
This is the third leg of the Challenge tour, but it's actually the fourth round of the current Civic Type R. In April 2017, a development car became Nürburgring Nordschleife's fastest production car with a lap time of 7m43.8s.
This year's Type R Challenge began with World Touring Car driver Esteban Guerrieri, who set a new 2m01.51s mark on the Magny-Cours GP circuit in France. Bertrand Baguette 2h53.72s in the same car at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium
The list of drivers for the other tests in the R-type Challenge 2018 round will include former Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button and World Touring Driver Tiago Monteiro
