While Peugeot chooses to remove the booking list for its next e-2008, Skoda is doing the opposite.

They warn today that they are already opening pre-orders for their future electric SUV, even if it will not be delivered to customers until the end of 2020.

The size of a Y model

The car will be based on the Skoda Vision iV concept car, and Skoda warns that the production model will be "closely related" to the concept.

– Skoda confirms centrally that it becomes available in both 4×4 and rear-wheel drive and offers a range of up to 500 km (WLTP). In addition, the car will perform well in all areas where Skoda is famous today, so there is good reason to expect a good space, smart solutions and lots of car for the future. 39, money, writes the importer Harald A. Møller in a press release.

In terms of size, the Vision IV concept measures 4.67 meters long, 1.92 meters wide and 1.61 meters high. It puts the car at about the size of the estimates of Tesla's next model Y, which will also be available on the market at the end of 2020.

83 kilowatt hours

The concept car also has a luggage compartment of 550 liters and a total of 306 horses spread over two engines. The car will be the first of Skoda to be produced on Volkswagen's SEM platform for electric cars, which will also form the basis of Volkswagen's own ID series.

The battery has a capacity of 83 kilowatt hours, which should give a range of up to 500 km after the WLTP protocol. The Tesla Model Y is estimated at 505 kilometers after WLTP in the largest battery edition, probably around 75 kilowatt hours.

A place in the queue requires a deposit of NOK 5,000, which is refunded if you cancel the pre-booking or when you sign a contract for the car.

So, as has been the case for many other cars, many details are in blue, even if you have to pay for a spot in the queue.

– Up to now, we can not say anything about the price, we have to wait for the launch. But we expect a lot of cars for the money in the good Skoda tradition, including on the production model, "said Skoda director Thomas Meiner at Harald A. Møller.
