With the new Google Maps feature called "Live View," it's now easier to find a wide range of cities around the world as you walk.
With Augmented Reality (AR), you can now get directions with arrows and directions on your phone, which appear as an extra layer of information above live images of what you're watching, Google writes in a Press release.
This feature is initially launched as a beta on some smartphones: Android phones that support ARCore and iPhones that support ARKit.
The publication is in progress and begins today on iOS and Android compatible devices. See the list of compatible devices here.
Smart functionality requires detailed Street View data for the camera to "see" where you are. Therefore, the function will initially work only in urban areas. Google is constantly working on photographing areas for use with Street View. Thus, the Live View function will be available permanently in several areas.
