Exploit the planned launch for a long time.
The second-generation Nissan Leaf was a major success in the Norwegian market. It is the most sovereign car of Norway so far this year. Thus, Leaf has also managed to tilt the VW Golf a throne she had worn for many years.
The combination of price, range and the shortest delivery time was very important for Leaf. But at the same time, many potential customers have also chosen to sit on the fence, knowing that Nissan offers a long-range edition.
The scope is very important for many buyers of electric cars. The official figure for today 's sheet is 270 kilometers, measured according to the new, stricter WLTP standard.
Sitting in prison
This number is not very impressive, compared to the best competitors. But Nissan has always had a version with a larger battery and therefore also a longer time range.
Earlier this fall, Nissan announced its launch in Los Angeles and Amsterdam in late November. We at Broom were among the guests at the premiere. But at the last minute, Nissan canceled, postponing the launch of the car.
The reason will be the scandal surrounding top boss Carlos Ghosn, who is now imprisoned in Japan. Ghosn is for several years one of the most competent leaders of the car industry. He is now accused of financial irregularities. Ghosn should have under-reported income. He is also accused of personally misusing the company's assets.

Important man for Leaf
The news has had the effect of a bombshell on the Renault / Nissan / Mitsubishi alliance that Ghosn was running. This also contributes to the fact that for many years he has been a candidate for the electrical effort of the alliance. Without Ghosn, Nissan had hardly chosen to build Leaf. He clearly stated that it would be a very important car for Nissan.
Officially, it is now said that Nissan has decided to postpone the launch of the new Leaf edition, because they fear that it drowns everyone around Ghosn. They have not given any new tip, but simply that they will wait until the car can get "the exposure it deserves".
Low range in winter
Today's Leaf has a 40 kWh battery and an official range of 270 km. In practice, this means that in normal driving without economy, it is necessary to calculate about 200 kilometers. In winter, it will soon be much lower.
It was assumed that the 60 kWh edition would have an official range of about 400 kilometers. In practice, this will make it more useful than the current model, especially for those who have to drive long distances without having to get along.
Broom is in contact with the Norwegian importer from Nissan to comment on what is happening right now. For the moment, we have not received an answer.
