Amanda (21) has eliminated 200,000 candidates: – I'm not yet ready to take charge

(iFinnmark 🙂 The WCOPA Hollywood World Performing Arts Championships are an international talent competition involving singers, musicians, dancers, models and various artists from around the world. Both to win, but also for the opportunity to be discovered by talent scouts who attend all of this.

– Previously, Romeo Johnsen, who worked with Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder, was part of the jury. The same goes for Kenya Clay, dance choreographer for the TV series Glee and How I met your mother. The main choreographer of the Cirque de Soleil was also a member of the jury.

From 71 countries

Of the 200,000 entries, Amanda is among 1,600 participants from 71 countries selected to compete at the World Championships in Long Beach, California, April 12-23. July this summer.

– I have not yet managed to take it in myself, says the mother toddler between two jobs and toddlers, almost can not remember what she postulated.

– I have always loved dancing, it is there that I express myself best. Since I was a kid, it was the dance that I wanted to stay. I never had a plan b.

Was contacted

So when the World Cup advertisement appeared on a website, she started filling the application.

– In the middle, I thought "no, I will never be chosen". I did not fill in the application until I sent it.

But the Norwegian and Swedish national directors, Kjetil Paulsen and Andrè Santagat, drew so much attention to Amanda that they called her and talked about an audition video.

– Audition Video ?, I thought, stressed, and sent the video that I participated with Attitude Dansecrew during the Summer Fever in 2014. And I just have to say that without the call from Kjetil and André, I would not have had the opportunity to follow dream.

Shortly after, she received a new phone: "You're with."

Now 21, he works at Hammerfest Bowling and is a dance educator at Hammerfest Kulturskole.

– In addition to jobs and family, I will now choreograph three dances I will be attending in Los Angeles.

Amanda will participate in the categories of hip-hop, modern and open.

Hoping the final

– What may be different for me compared to many other dancers is that I am not so focused on the steps. With me, the dance comes from within, what I want to convey. Dance is my passion.

What she hopes the most is a last place.

– The competition itself, compared to the Olympics of the entertainment industry, lasts several days in front of a considerable number of people. The last performance will be presented in front of a room of 3,000 people and will be broadcast on US television and broadcast continuously for three million people around the world.

Many prices

– Anyone who comes to the final is a winner. WCOPA is a partnership with, among others, Cirque de Soleil, the New York Conservatory, Dance Complex and $ 5 million in scholarships to schools and studios. But what I think is just as exciting is getting in touch with the people in the industry who are there. At least I'll do my best.

As Norway has no arrangements, unlike other countries, where WCOPA participants receive their expenses, Amanda hopes to find sponsors.

– We receive a participating package, which makes it a bit cheaper, but I still have to pay for the ride myself. So having sponsors in the team had been really good, says Amanda Holm.
