It was last Thursday that Stig Anders Johansen (35) of Stokmarknes was found dead in an apartment in Sortland after several days of disappearance. A detainee living at the address was charged with intentional murder and detention for four weeks.

The last safe sighting of the deceased took place on the weekend of November 9-11 and police believe that Johansen died nearly two weeks before being found.

NRK received several reports indicating that the convict had already been found guilty of violence against his former cohabitant. Police attorney Rita Hermansen Dahl of the Nordland Police District confirms this information.

– The verdict dates from 2009 and applies to unprovoked violence against a defenseless person in particularly aggravating circumstances. Violence is characterized by abuse. He was sentenced to 90 days in prison, she told NRK

Rumors in the local community

Police are developing the theory that the 35-year-old man would have died for two weeks in the besieged apartment before being found.

Last week in Sortland, there were more rumors about what happened in the apartment. Police encourage people to pay attention to rumors.

"The police are aware of the fact that there are a lot of rumors in this case and therefore wants to clarify that the body of it has not been found in the best way. of the death and the moment the deceased was killed, we must wait a minute until we have received the autopsy report, "said Dahl.

The police are now trying to gather information and secure traces to find out what happened.

"We are only at the beginning of the investigation and it will take some time to get this overview," said the police attorney.

Siv Dagny Aasvik, reporter for Stokmarknes and Hadsel, said it was important that people take care of each other in difficult times.

"It's a tragic thing that happens in very many cases.We are small communities where many people know each other.This affects a lot of people in Vesterålen.

The man murdered in the late 1930s is described by neighbors and friends as a calm person who does not really benefit. It never hurt, says one.

The man is currently unemployed after finishing his job in September. A new hearing of the victims is scheduled for next week.

Kripos attends

Five investigators from Kripos assist the police in Sortland during the investigation. In addition to Kripos, the local police received additional resources from the Nordland Police District. The police state that the victims are willing to explain themselves, but do not go, for investigative reasons, into the explanations provided by the victims during the interrogation.

The two involved are previous police convictions, but not related to serious crimes.
