Maiken Caspersen Falla got sick.

LILLEHAMMER (Nettavisen): On Thursday afternoon, the Norwegian Ski Federation announced in a press release that the Norwegian World Cup was missing the Lillehammer World Cup weekend.

Autumn was basically Norway's biggest hope in Friday's sprint race, but the former Olympic champion is struggling with an illness.

"She was a little cold, we are taking the necessary steps to make the break as short as possible and she will be back to normal physical activity in a few days," said Øystein Andersen, a cross-country ski doctor.

Falla became the best Norwegian women's sprint at the opening of the World Cup in Ruka last weekend. The best Norwegian of Nest, however, was Anna Svendsen up to 17th place.

It's now exciting to see who will defend the honor of Norway at home during Friday's race.

Among other things, 19-year-old Kristine Stavås Skistad impressed at the start of the season at Beitostølen and the Norwegian weekend at Gålå last weekend.

Emilie Fleten, of Gol, takes the place of Falla in the Norwegian team.

The World Cup in Lillehammer starts Friday with the sprint race mentioned before becoming a free technique of 10/15 kilometers on Saturday and the weekend ends with a 10/15 kilometer hunting start on Sunday.

The newspaper is in place in Lillehammer to follow the World Cup this weekend.
