"It's the car of those looking for extravagance and driving pleasure, on a daily basis as well as on long journeys," said Marius Tegneby, director of communication for BMW Group Norway.

The 8 Series Gran Coupe is the third model in the BMW 8 Series, after this year's two-door coupe and convertible. According to the manufacturer, the 8 Series Gran Coupe is the only model in its segment based on a two-door sports car. Here, it has four doors, a longer wheelbase and a larger luggage compartment. Competitors call Porsche Panamera, Mercedes-Benz CLS and Audi A7.

Many of the other models can be recognized, but there are big differences between pillar A and the previous one. The spacing of the axles is greater than three meters. The car measures more than five meters overall, more than 20 centimeters more than the two-door version. The car is also wider and taller than its siblings. The weight should be 70 kilograms higher than that of the siblings, thanks to the use of lightweight materials.

BMW calls the car a 4 + 1 seat. This means that the outer rear seats have the same design as the sports seats, while the central seat is hardly comfortable. The starting volume is 440 liters.

The car comes with a 340-horsepower six-cylinder gasoline engine and a six-cylinder diesel engine with 320 horsepower, both of which zero to 100 km / h in about five seconds. Currently, the top model is the M850i which, with its 530 V8, goes from calm to 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds. The ultimate model will be the 625 horsepower M8 Gran Coupe Competition, but it will come later.

The 840i is the cheapest model at 1.26 million euros, followed closely by the 840d diesel model. The M850i costs 1,758,400 crowns.

"With the all-new BMW X7 and the significantly improved 7-Series, the new BMW 8 Series perfectly illustrates the current BMW models' offensive in every segment, even the most luxurious," says Tegneby.(Conditions)Copyright Dagens Næringsliv AS and / or our suppliers.
