Veidekke today signed a contract with Student Assembly in Ås (SiÅs) for the construction of eight blocks with a total of 795 student furniture, according to a stock announcement.

According to the company, it is probably the largest student housing project in the world of solid wood, and the choice of material offers a significant environmental benefit in terms of reducing CO2 emissions.

The contract is estimated at 497 million NOK excluding VAT.

The need for new furniture for students is due to the fact that the Veterinary Institute and the Veterinary College of the Norwegian University of Biological Sciences and the Environment (NMBU) will move to the Ås campus.

These will be ready to welcome new students early in the studies in the fall of 2020.
