With more than € 24 million in Enova support, Uno-X Hydrogen will open two hydrogen filling stations in the Trondheim area, one in Fredrikstad and a mobile hydrogen station, Enova announces in a message.

On the road to a low-carbon society, different technologies need to be tested to reduce emissions from the transport sector. Enova supports not only the establishment of fast charging stations, but also the construction of hydrogen filling stations through annual announcements. This year, four projects under the auspices of Uno-X Hydrogen are supported for the establishment of new service stations.

"To reach our climate goals, it is absolutely necessary to significantly reduce emissions from transport." Norway's success with electric cars is instructive and shows how fast change can be made. Hydrogen will be important for Norway to reach our climate goals and eventually become a zero-emission society. We need to focus on future energy solutions and four new hydrogen fuel stations are a step forward. " said Minister of Climate and Environment Ola Elvestuen.

– By supporting selected filling points, we would like to help Norway gain experience on the use of hydrogen in the transport sector. Facilitate a balanced growth of the hydrogen market when access to vehicles will eventually increase. The new Uno-X Hydrogen stations will contribute to the development of the skills of companies, suppliers and users, "said Enova, Nils Kristian Nakstad, general manager.

Removable drive

In addition to the three Trondheim and Fredrikstad stations, Uno-X Hydrogen will establish a hydrogen mobile station at Akershus, which will provide hydrogen supply in an interim phase until enough hydrogen stations are established in the count. Next, Uno-X Hydrogen plans to use the station as a corridor to connect Western Norway to eastern Norway.

"The removable filling station is particularly interesting for us – the fact that the drive is removable makes it particularly suitable for helping to create small markets and increase the operational reliability of other stations." We believe that it is important to develop expertise and experience in this area, "said Nakstad.

The four hydrogen stations will be operational by 1 September 2020. Enova confirms that it will be possible to apply for assistance for the construction of service stations also in 2019.

Nel is happy

Nel holds 39% of the Uno-X hydrogen, while Uno-X of the Reitan family holds 41% and Praxair 20%. Nel leader Jon André Løkke said in a stock market announcement that he was very pleased with the award, which will help him build an initial network of hydrogen stations in the south of the city.
