Former Freelance Independent Chief Jacob Børresen believes that information on the structural error of the KNM Helge Ingstad frigate's watertight division is surprising.

According to the preliminary report of the Havarikommission, one of the causes of the collision is the misunderstanding that occurred on Helge Ingstad's bridge during the discovery of Sola TS tanker tire fires.

The crew had the impression that the light belonged to an immobile object, rather calm.

Temporary measures were introduced aboard the other Nansen class frigates after the discovery, which is essential for safety.

Defense chief Haakon Bruun-Hanssen said the military had no reason to say today that it was so serious that they had to put all the ships out of service.
