I think you do not want to spend more money than necessary. Then there is the diesel that applies here. You should nevertheless expect that a straight and quite heavy car like the Q5 uses more diesel than a station wagon of the same size, but a very big vehicle does not have the difference of a car. 39; be.
The operating costs depend a lot on the old car you buy, including mileage. By driving as much, I would consider a new car as possible, and not least: it's a big plus if it's not gone that far. The guarantee of a new car is of course very reassuring. You do not have to think more than service and wear parts.
It's hardly easier with the diesel
Regarding diesel and future developments, it is difficult to predict. In addition, diesel cars do not make it easy. There is sufficient reason to fear that fees such as annual fees and tolls may increase more than other cars. In the worst case, you may also be excluded from Oslo on highly polluted days. Of course, this is not smart for someone who is as dependent on the car as you are. On the other hand, it happened once in two years. But this can clearly happen again.
During the last two years, Norway has experienced a "diesel hysteria". Many were very afraid to buy a diesel engine. This is mainly the future loss of value, which can be considerably higher than for other cars. But in your case, it's about buying a used car, where the first (and probably the biggest) loss of value is already supported. Then it should not weigh so heavily.
In clean operating costs, an electric car will obviously save you a lot of money. With your commute distance, you can not necessarily get up in the Tesla class to cope with the trip without charging. But be aware that electric cars are usually shorter than official figures indicate. Not less in winter with slaps and cold.
Before buying a used Q5, there are of course some things you should think about. Among other things, the weight of nearly two tons means that brakes and adjustments can be worn quickly. Check all electrical features carefully, there are some annoying errors here. In some cases, the S-tronic automatic gearbox can also cause problems and engines can use oil. But the overall quality of the Q5, I would say, is pretty simple and has no reason to drop the purchases.
