Havarikommissionen: The crew did not understand that he was communicating with the tanker

But the Havarikommission has made a critical finding regarding the safety of the sealing section of the vessel which "needs to be maintained". It can be assumed that this applies to the four other ships of the Nansen frigate class, in which KNM Helge Ingstad is located.

The boat was too fast filled with water and gave it poor stability during the accident.

"The Naval Commission considers the lack of integrity of the vessel's seal as a crucial discovery for the safety of the Nansen-class frigates," the report says.

The Hearing Panel also recommended that the shipbuilder Navantia investigate the findings of this initial investigation and determine whether these findings also apply to other vessels.
