Here is a one year wait – on a diesel car!

Broom.no: After almost 40 years, Mercedes was literally the biggest new legend of last year. We are talking about Geländewagen, which in the 1980s was at its peak as a tractor.

Although the new generation looks incredibly old, it is a brand new car. Outside, it looks a lot like the original, but the rest is totally changed.

Long waiting lists

Here at home, there is no doubt that the updated edition hit the flicker.

Up to now, more than 80 G-Class have been sold, which is pretty incredible given the fact that the car has been selling for a little over six months – and that's in the last ten years , more than 50 cars have been registered.

In addition, the 80 cars are equipped with huge V8, G 500 or G 63 engines.

Here is the starting price of 1.9 and 2.5 million, respectively, as a passenger car.

The demand is so strong that there are now long waiting lists for the new G-Class. If you order a car today, you have to wait until 2020 before you can deliver it.

– The Graz plant is running at full capacity and, of course, we are doing everything in our power to increase the number of production sites, says Audun Hermansen, head of public relations and information at Mercedes Norway.

The factory is struggling to meet the demand of the new Mercedes G-Class. Soon, it will be possible to order a new diesel variant.

Cheaper variant on the way

Until now, only the G 500 and G 63 were available in Norway. But from February, he opens to order a more nice and more "sensitive" edition: G 350d.

It is equipped with the new three-cylinder Mercedes diesel engine of 3 liters. In Class G, it produces 286 hp and 600 Nm. In many respects it is therefore a more reasonable alternative to engines compared to large service stations.

Generally, new models with the smallest engine option are offered from the beginning. This is not the case with the new G-Wagen.

Norwegian prices on the G 350d are not ready yet, but it will of course be cheaper than the larger gasoline versions. We are talking here about a price reduction of several hundred thousand crowns.

The demand for the new G-Class being so important, it is necessary to count on such a long wait for the diesel edition. This means a delivery in 2020, if you order the car from the beginning of sales in February.

Bigger and lighter

With the exception of the three parts, door handles, spare wheel cover and headlight washers, everything is new for the second-generation G-Class.

Inside, it has grown and offers better space for the driver and passengers. The dashboard has analog watches as standard, but as in the E and S class, a wide-screen cockpit is also available, with two 12.3-inch screens.

On the outside, the car has been lengthened 53 mm and 121 mm wider than its predecessor. Nevertheless, the weight is reduced by 170 kg.

Beyond, the lines are almost the same as when the car was born 40 years ago. Maybe that is also what makes the car so popular?
