The rush to the hospital
The drag artist describes the event three weeks ago as a wake up caller. He was in a meeting at his home when he suddenly felt indisposed.
– It was like a flash of clear sky. I felt it was like a blue light on one side of the head. I caught my colleague and asked: what's going on now?
– I looked at my arm and I could not move it. I did not understand anything and it was as if everything was still, he adds.
Schrøder 's colleagues quickly realized that he needed medical help and the ambulance arrived in just three minutes and drove him to the hospital.
blood clots
Aged 56, he did not even understand what had struck him.
– I quickly found the movement in my arm. For two days, I did not feel fingers, but it came back. After the MRI and CT examinations, I learned that I had had two strokes, he said.
Schrøder had two small blood clots. The cause was high blood pressure over several months.
– I was terribly sorry. I started crying a bit, because I did not know much about it, he said of his first reaction.
Clear signal from the doctor
The dragon artist received the clear message from the doctor to show up on the following Thursday, at the first performance of the Great Garlic Girls in their new summer show titled "Pride Show" at the Victoria Theater in Oslo .
– As long as the doctor said it's okay, I'm reassured. I look forward to being on stage again. Most people say I'm crazy doing it, but then I think back to the '80s when we started with the drag show. she
It was madness, he said.
