The biggest changes took place with the first 2.0-liter Skyactive X, the world's first commercially produced gasoline engine that uses compression stone – the fuel / air mixture ignites automatically when it's in motion. it is compressed by the pistons.

This engine technology is coupled with Mazda's first 24V hybrid system, which provides braking energy that can be used for acceleration.

Because many competitors reduce engine volume and compensate for the lack of grounding effect of turbotechnology, Mazda wants to stay away from the turbo to save energy. Mazda provides fuel economy in the X engine from 20 to 30% over the current Skyactiv-G gasoline engine.

Mazda has yet to say anything about the refillable variants of the Mazda3.

At the launch of the Mazda3 in Norway in March, the first cars will be available only with Skyactiv-G technology. The X engine comes first in the summer.

Diesel down.
By cons, it is now a diesel engine again and again in the Mazda3 in Norway, but not in the rest of Europe. In the last year, less than four percent of Mazda3 customers in Norway chose the diesel solution.

On the other hand, whoever swears to the 4×4 (about 40% of the Norwegian customers of the automobile) is delighted that the Mazda3 is finally equipped with the all-wheel drive, but only in combination with the engine X.

Inside, it will be easy to recognize the Mazda3 through the multimedia display located at the top and center of the dashboard. But the size of the screen is now increased to 8.8 inches. The heating is controlled by its own buttons and the steering wheel heater becomes the norm.

Fortunately, Mazda has chosen to leave the function dial behind the shifter to control the on-screen menu while the car is in motion. There is, like Audi, the volume selector.

History of 1977
The Mazda3 has a history that dates back to 1977, when the car was powered and called Mazda 323, or Familia, the Japanese name. That is to say that the name Familia was used as early as 1963, followed on the national market with the car, as in Norway, the Mazda 1000/1200/1300 of 1967, the same year as the Norwegian launch of Mazda.

This was the Mazda also launched in Japan with a rotary engine.

With the fourth generation in 1980, Mazda went from rear-wheel drive to front-wheel drive. Ford now belonged to Mazda and sold it under the name of Ford Lacer (Meteor in Australia).

The fifth generation of 323 in 1985 was the first to run on all wheels. At the same time, a 58 hp diesel engine was first discovered in 323.

With the sixth generation starting in 1989, it was also possible to buy the 323 as a 4×4 wagon and block the distribution box.

On October 2, 2003, the Mazda 323 came to an end and the Mazda3 took over.

Ford then controlled both Mazda and Volvo, the first generation shared Mazda3 platform with Ford Focus and the Volvo C30 / S40 / V50. When Ford got out of Mazda and sold Volvo to Chinese Geely, Mazda had to develop its own platform for Mazda3 and the other models.

Mazda3 does not currently share a platform with any other manufacturer.
