"We are delighted to respond to the strong demand for our transatlantic flights by announcing that Miami and San Francisco will follow Rio de Janeiro as part of our itinerary program for the summer of 2019," said Matthew Wood, executive vice president in Norwegian.
The airline will publish Wednesday the UK with an update of the routes program for next summer.
As of March 31, the airline will serve the Miami International Airport (MIA) and the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) departing from London Gatwick.
This means the airline is destroying existing connections to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Oakland (OAK).
Norwegian will operate daily flights to Miami, from four weekly departures to Fort Lauderdale last summer, as well as five weekly departures to San Francisco.
The airline has chosen to change the airport because of the demand from its customers and the increase in its cargo capacity, as these airports offer Norwegian Cargo, the company writes.
The competitor SAS flies from before to only these airports.
The summer program for Norwegian will include 13 long-haul routes, including the London-Rio de Janeiro route announced on Tuesday.
In addition, it is announced that minor modifications to the route program will be made to release the Boeing 787's capacity for mandatory Roll Royce engine inspections.
The trip to Los Angeles will be reduced to a daily return, while Chicago will be reduced to four flights per week.
