One of the world's first unmanned platforms is en route to the Valhall Field

The platform deck will be part of one of the world's first unmanned platforms and will pump about 60 million barrels of oil over the Valhall field.

In the spring of 2017, Aker BP, Kværner, ABB and Aker Solutions formed an alliance to collaborate on well platforms. This is the first project of the collaboration. The platform will normally be unmanned and the contract is a breakthrough for Kvaerner's commitment to such facilities.

Made in 14 months

According to the press release, the platform sets a new standard as to the degree of completeness of an installation before departure.

– Today, just 14 months after cutting the first steel plates, the deck of the deck is ready to be transported to the ground exactly as agreed. Together we have developed new solutions and implemented a number of project improvements in terms of safety, productivity and cost reduction, "says Magnus press release.

The platform is produced within budget and fast delivery means that production can start earlier than expected.

No injuries

The deck of the 2,000-tonne platform will be connected to the steel cladding delivered by Kværner in April. Delivery is completed without causing serious harm to people or the environment, says the press release.

By signing on December 18, 2017, the contract had a value of just under a billion NOK for Kværner. At most, about 650 people from Kværner, the Alliance and subcontractors worked on the project.
