Romerikes Leaf – Telenor is forced to sell by telephone illegally

The Consumer Inspectorate has received numerous complaints from representatives of Telenor's telephone sales. This is especially what phones call customers with the broadband service of Telenor to offer them mobile subscriptions.

Telenor believes that it is allowed to call customers who have booked because these customers already have a broadband deal with Telenor Norway, which is why they are considered "equivalent services".

This is a disagreement on the part of the Litigation Authority. Telenor must put an end to this practice. Otherwise, they must pay a fine of 30,000 Swedish kroner for each appeal that the Authority considers illegal. This applies from the moment the decision is made.

Haugseth points out that phone sales by many are considered very intrusive and that it is important that marketers respect the resilience of the consumer.

Consumer Inspection writes in the notice that Telenor's complaints also show that the company has bad routines to verify that consumers who book directly from the company are removed from the call lists.

On December 14, Telenor has until the deadline to submit comments to the notification.
