The changes will come into effect on February 8, 2019, says the Norwegian Public Administration of Roads in a press release.

"What's new is that you can now carry out EU checks at any time, provided the vehicle is approved on time." The verification period is final, explains Henning Harsem, Head of Department, Public Administration of Norwegian Roads, in a press release.

Previously, it was the last digit of the car registration number that determined which month was the last deadline for vehicle verification and approval. After February 8, it is the date of first registration which is the starting point of the deadline.

Introduced gradually

The conversion means for most car owners that they can check the car when they wish within two years of the last approved check.

Deadlines change continuously. In other words, everyone does not have to check their car in February of next year. We trust the time limit until the next time you have control of the car.

The control ranges remain the same as today, that is to say that passenger cars will mostly enter the first time after four years, then every two years, while the vehicles of more than 7500 kg will enter each year, alert the road network.

In the past, there was a purr after the deadline. A new approach to veivesenet is to receive a reminder letter two months in advance.

"Even if you can take control at any time, you will never have more than two months to fix the errors," says the press release.

If you do not meet the deadline, you can divorce the same day.

– It is advisable to check when you have control, so that you are well prepared and have enough time for repairs and after control, Harsem encourages.

Here you can check when you have a deadline.
