– The national team is better without Hegerberg – NRK Sport – Sports News, Results and Schedule

This summer, Norway participates in the World Cup in France. The championship is played without Ada Hegerberg, who broke with the national team after the failure of the European Championship in 2017.

The women's national team then went on to qualify for the World Cup without the Lyon striker and on Thursday, Sjögren eliminated the 23 Norwegian players from the World Cup.

The football expert of NRK thinks that the national team is better without the star of attack.

– The national team has gone through a long process since the European Championship. They slowly rebuilt. They have a clear identity with the slogan "Stronger together". The environment is good. Then I want to say that they are not served by choosing Hegerberg who can challenge that a bit, even if she is a fantastic footballer, said Carl-Erik Torp.

– Cleverly, it's a pity

Isabell Herlovsen (Kolbotn), Lisa-Marie Karlseng International (Rosengård), Emilie Nautnes (Arna-Bjørnar) and Elise Thorsnes (LSK Women) are the two options.

– I think that they are happy that the team is going to the championship and feel no need for Ada. I think the national team is better without it. If she were to join, it would be a new process that the national team had to follow, says Torp.

– But had not she used the woman who was voted best footballer in the world?

– The skills are of course a pity that it is not included. But I do not think anyone on the national team uses Ada's energy or thinking power. She was so clear that she no longer wants to be part of a national team. Then they think it can be good without them too, Torp said.

– Maybe things can change in the long run

The Norwegian Football Federation 's elite director, Lise Klaveness, spoke with Hegerberg about a possible return to the national team.

– We had contact with Ada Hegerberg earlier, where things were clarified. And Ada asked for peace and respect for her choice. We have not done anything of "stuntman" now towards the end. It would be as bad together sports. Now, there is a run-up, and the team sits. We must find that. That's the situation and we then tried to have a normal relationship of trust with Ada, so that things could change in the long run, says Lise Klaveness to NRK.

The Hegerbergs Lyon have recently qualified for the Champions League final after their victory against Chelsea. She previously stated that she had not won the Gold Ball if she had continued to be part of the national team.

At the same time, mother Gerd Stolsmo told NRK that it was out of the question for Ada to compete in the World Cup so long as she would not qualify for the championship team.

– When Ada said no to the national team, she obviously does not come into the yard when the others did the work. Out of respect for the other girls, Stolsmo said.
