Last month, Didrik Tønseth won gold at the NM in the field. On Tuesday, however, the country profile was not presented at the European Championships in the Netherlands on 9 December.

He explains to Erlend Slokvik, senior official of the Norwegian Athletics Federation, that Tønseth has expressed the wish to travel to Beitostølen on Saturday 8th December to travel to the Netherlands and run on Sunday.

This is not currently the case for the Norwegian Athletics Association.

"You can not go to Beitostølen on Saturdays and then go down on Sundays, which is not possible," Slokvik told VG.

It was October 14th that Tønseth had broken the Norwegian elite at the NM on the Trondheim field. Although the cross-country star finished a roller skating two hours earlier in the day, he scored after 10 kilometers with no one on the verge of winning.

This meant that Tønseth was naturally interesting in terms of Norway's representation at the European Championship.

But now, cross-country national team manager Vidar Løfshus has decided that Tønseth will not participate.

According to Tønseth's statements to NRKit was not appropriate to drop the 30 km to Beitostølen.

"Unfortunately, there will be no ground, I see that it is not optimal for the race to go a third day before and I realize that they want to have new legs, so it will only be cross-country this weekend, "says Tønseth on the channel's website.
