The Marketplace was launched in July 2017, but was widely advertised in the media in February of this year.

The goal was to create a Norwegian Amazon platform with a number of partners, including well-known Norwegian brands such as Jernia, Spaceworld Soundgarden, Platekompaniet, Elefun and Haugenbok.no.

– Enough, that's enough

"With many external partners on our platform where the goods come from different warehouses, it has been difficult to provide customers with a unified shipping and delivery solution. We make no compromises to offer our customers the best shopping experience, "said Lars Olav Olaussen, CEO of Komplett Group, in a press release.

Komplett has regained its main interest for electronics and games.

"It's a matter of innovating, but you have to say that too much is too much.We evaluated the possibility of settling this quickly, but it did not work," Olaussen said. E24.

Mr Olaussen, originally from Orkla, took over the Norwegian e-commerce giant this year after entrepreneur and general manager Ole Vinje announced his transfer to the investment company Canica Stein Erik Hagen .

NY SJEF: Lars Olav Olaussen is a new director at Komplett. One of his main decisions was to close the prestigious project, which was the Komplett.no market.

Olaussen told E24 that the company had discussions within the group management about the initiative and possible changes.

"These efforts are the subject of ongoing evaluation, but we made this decision this week," Olaussen said.

We did not have the impression that everything was going badly, but we did it and we wanted to solve the friction. We then assessed whether it would be desirable to continue.

Complete cooperation with 108 players

Earlier this year, Anton Hagberg, market manager, had stated that the goal was to have between 200 and 300 partners by 2018. When E24 met with Komplett in February , the company had 107 partners.

Since then, the company has more than one visible partner on the platform.

– Today we have 108 integrated partners on the platform. In addition, agreements have been signed with a large number of actors not yet integrated, "Olaussen told E24.

"We had a lot of professional players and the collaboration worked well, there are now disappointments among the external players, but we have to look at the whole thing," Olaussen said.

– There will be endings

12 employees are affected by the changes. We talk about the employees of the market team. According to Olaussen, no one in the management group is affected.

"There will be layoffs, but we do not know how much it will cost," he says, noting that not all those affected are losing their jobs.

"We work to find solutions for each individual and it is important to do so in a correct and appropriate way.

The road ahead

Komplett wanted to be known as Norwegian Amazon and the project leader, Hagberg, clearly expressed the importance of this project for the company.

– This is the complete future. If not Komplett is known for more than five years of electronics, I have not done my job, Hagberg said in February that he did not want to comment on it at E24 on Thursday morning.

Olaussen told E24 that the company had invested heavily in technology, but he was not sure how to use it more.

The stated objectives and ambitions of the company were that 30 to 40% of the revenues should come from outside actors within the next five years.

"Innovating, it's trying and failing. The market did not work as we wanted, then we took a step back before continuing the course. We had the pleasure of working with highly skilled players and strongly customer focused, but overall we have not been able to simplify things for our customers, "Olaussen said.
