Santa Barbara County reports the deaths of two more people who tested positive for COVID-19.
Both had underlying health issues, according to health officials.
One of the patients was a child aged 12 to 17 who lived in Santa Maria. Health officials say this is the first pediatric death linked to COVID-19 in Santa Barbara County.
The other patient was over 70 years old and lived in Lompoc.
Santa Barbara County also added 186 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the county’s total to 14,376 confirmed cases as of December 18.
Ninety people are currently hospitalized, including 24 patients in intensive care. Health officials say 13,131 people have recovered.
Santa Barbara County has had 147 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

- Unincorporated Goleta and Gaviota Valley – 402
- Santa Ynez Valley (Solvang, Buellton, Santa Ynez, Los Alamos, Los Olivos, Ballard) – 326
582 additional cases are listed as “pending”.
Three free community coronavirus testing sites are open in Santa Maria, Buellton and Goleta.
Additional testing will be available at the Santa Maria public health testing site until Friday, December 18.
