Even with the continued reduction in the number of cases of dengue, zika and chikungunya, data from the mosquito entomological study Aedes aegypti indicate that some municipalities have a strong vector infestation and are at risk of occurrence of these diseases. The research, carried out in May by the municipalities, was presented Thursday (28), by the control room at Arboviroses, from the State Secretariat for Health (Sesapi)
According to the bulletin of the 25th Epidemiological Week there was a 92.3% decrease in chikungunya cases compared to the same period in 2017, when 3,714 cases were reported in probable cases and 285 cases this year. Dengue cases also decreased: last year, 4,206 cases and 2018, representing a reduction of 70.5%
The reduction of cases shows that the actions with the population give results, as the says the supervisor of health surveillance, Antônio Manoel. He cautioned, however, that municipalities should remain vigilant, since survey data indicate that 19 municipalities in Piauí have a prevalent Infestation Index (IIP) greater than 4%, this is ie a strong infestation with risk of hatching of arboviruses. In a state of alert, the PII from 1% to 3.9% is made up of 65 municipalities and 131 of a satisfactory PID, less than 1% of the infestation.
Entomological survey data are collected by homeopathic endemic agents that check mosquito foci on the site. After this field work, the municipal health secretariats feed into the Liraa-LIA information system of the Ministry of Health.
The supervisor of health surveillance also reports that the index indicates the amount of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in the municipality, even those at a satisfactory level should remain vigilant. "There is, yes, the possibility of a dengue epidemic even with data satisfying the rate of infestation, so the municipalities must maintain control actions and mobilize the population," says Manoel Manoel.
In addition, the system points out that nine municipalities have not or have not informed the Entomological Research Data System. "These data are used to take more effective action in the most at-risk areas, we need this data to guide our work, and if a municipality does not tell its reality, it ends up hurting its population," he said. said Manoel
